and Ceili, the Ballyliffin Hotel in Ballyliffin.
This popular event ice breaker will be
organized the same as it has been. A local Ceili band will play and
announce the dances. Some resident Ceili dancers will come and help
those of us who aren’t as familiar with the dances. During the break
we will have a sing-a long of Irish folk songs – lyrics will be
provided.
Friday 24 July – Clann Genealogy
Forum – FREE
7 pm – 11 pm, 5th Clann Genealogy Forum and
Sharing event at the Colgan Hall, Carndonagh. - FREE
This event was Kathi Gannon’s idea for 2005
and is very popular since then. Beginning in 2008, we have invited
local genealogy experts and some professionals come and share
information and ideas to help with the roadblocks and stuck places of
Irish genealogy. It has gained in popularity and attendance each
reunion. You don’t need to be an expert, come and join with us.
Saturday 25 July Carn Faire – FREE
to attend, local items are for sale at the booths.
12 noon – 5 pm, a re-enactment of the
traditional market village fair, held in The Diamond and the Colgan
Hall - Carndonagh. Numerous vendors have been invited to assist in
this historical cultural experience. Join us to see what music and
activities we have.
Sunday 26 July - Dinner and
Entertainment – €34
1 pm – 6 pm, O’Dochartaigh Reunion BBQ –
Culdonagh Manor, Drumaville, Malin.
This informal afternoon meal and gathering
will take place at our chairman’s home. We will have a wonderful
opportunity to visit with one another, see some local young musicians
and dancers perform, and have time for sharing genealogy information
and just getting to know one another.
Monday 27 July – Bus Tour including
meal – €52
10 am – 5 pm, Scenic Inishowen Donegal Drive
with lunch
Join us for an informative and breathtaking
drive to some of the most scenic locations in Inishowen – let someone
else drive and be entertained by stories from our local professional
guides. A substantial lunch of soup and sandwiches in included at the
picturesque Seaview Tavern, in Malin Head. Meet just outside the
SuperValu parking lot in Carndonagh.
Tuesday 28 July – Derry city walking
tours, €30 for both tours, €15 each.
10 am – noon, Walking tour of the Derry City
Walls – discover the 400 year old walls of Derry and the city's links
to the O’Dochartaigh Clann. This tour finishes up at the Tower Museum.
Lunch on your own - You will also have the
chance to visit the Craft Village in Derry City and have time for
shopping and as well as enjoying the antiquities there.
2:30 pm – 4:40 pm, the Bogside tour, Visit
the political murals of the Bogside area and learn about the recent
events including Bloody Sunday to gain an insight into the Northern
Ireland Troubles, this tour includes a visit to the Museum of Free
Derry tour with introduction.
6:30 pm – 11 pm, Closing Banquet and
American Wake. An Grianan Hotel, Burt. €57
We will have our closing banquet at the
well-known An Grianan Hotel in Burt. After the dinner and few SHORT
speeches, we will award some reunion attendee prizes before we enjoy
the entertainments of an “American Wake.” This is the name given to
the big send-off party for those who were leaving for America. The
words of popular Irish songs will be in the reunion brochure so that
the audience can participate.
